This Is What Really Causes Skin Tags
By ALEXA SOOTER
Skin tags can often make one self-conscious, but the truth is that everyone can develop skin tags. Extra cells that grow on the surface level of the skin lead to skin tags, and though they can’t be prevented, they can be removed.
These extra cells are caused by skin rubbing together, as the friction of skin against skin stimulates growth. Skin tags are more likely to develop under the breasts, in the groin area, under the arms, or between skin rolls, and people who are overweight or pregnant are more susceptible to skin tags.
Thankfully, skin tags are not considered signs of cancer or pre-cancer. It is recommended, though, that they are removed by medical professionals, as the most common methods of removal can lead to severe bleeding and infection if done improperly.
