How Drinking Lemon Water Impacts Your Bladder
By ERIN MARIE
Drinking lemon water offers a host of health benefits: it provides vitamin C and potassium, can help fight off bad breath, and may even preserve our skin's health as we age. However, while lemon water can help you maintain a healthy bladder, experts stress that this beverage is not a cure-all for bladder issues.
Lemon water may help prevent kidney stones by boosting hydration and reducing the acidity of urine, which cuts down on calcium buildup that can lead to the formation of calcium oxalate kidney stones. However, lemon water does not dissolve existing kidney stones, nor does it prevent or treat UTIs and incontinence.
Lemon water's benefits are also not that different from regular water, but to give it a try, squeeze half an organic lemon into an 8-ounce glass of filtered water. Drink this regularly, but since the acid can cause tooth decay, use a straw and rinse your mouth afterward; you should also stop if you experience bladder discomfort or an increased urge to pee.
