She rose through editorial positions in her medical publishing career, ultimately becoming a Senior Developmental Editor. After working for Elsevier, Kristen started her own freelance publishing services business, which she has maintained for 18 years – now Banyan Tree Creative Content, LLC. She currently serves as the Editorial Director for Banyan Tree. Her professional offerings have grown to encompass marketing, copywriting, and content services. She is an accomplished medical writer and medical web content writer, developing content for individual practitioners to private medical practices to hospitals. She also has also authored an extensive list of peer-reviewed medical articles, health and wellness articles for the general public, and educational materials for both students and instructors. Besides an accomplished writing and editing career, Kristen also serves as a Developmental Editor for NAEMT (National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians).

Kristen graduated from Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1997. She received her degree in English Literature and graduated magna cum laude. She is also a member of Mensa.
