The Healthiest (And Unhealthiest) Celeb Super Bowl Snacks

The Super Bowl brings people together for more than just football. It's a day of friendly rivalries, over-the-top commercials, and, of course, some of the tastiest and most indulgent foods you'll see all year. Celebrity chefs like Guy Fieri pull out all the stops for their Super Bowl spreads, making sure to include all the game-day essentials like juicy meatballs, crispy chicken tenders, stacked cold-cut platters, and plenty of gooey, melty cheese (here are Super Bowl foods that won't spike your blood pressure). Because what's a Super Bowl party without a little comfort food?

Some celebrities have their own go-to dishes they can't wait to whip up for the big game. But with the Oscars just a few weeks away, some of Hollywood's biggest stars might be a little more mindful of what's on their plates, keeping an eye on calories, fat, and sugar. Others? They go all in, embracing the Super Bowl spirit by letting themselves indulge. After all, it's practically an American tradition to enjoy a cheat day when football's biggest showdown is on.

Curious about what your favorite celebrities are snacking on while watching the game? We did some digging and found out. Some of their picks are surprisingly healthy, while others ... well, let's just say they might make their personal trainer cringe.

Tom Brady and Beyonce have some healthy options

Whether you're a Patriots fan or not, Tom Brady is a football legend. Now that he's calling games rather than playing them, he's still an advocate for healthy eating. He has a healthy recipe for a potato and broccoli frittata that includes potatoes, broccoli, collard greens, eggs, and rice. This frittata is quite high in saturated fat due to the coconut oil, but the vegetables and brown rice will fill you with more than 5 grams of fiber. If you need a food that's high in potassium, this is worth a try, giving you 1,158 milligrams (25% of your daily value). The frittata is also rich in vitamins B and C, iron, zinc, and magnesium.

Pizza is a common favorite during the Super Bowl, but the best-tasting pies tend to be loaded with calories and fat. However, Beyonce — who is no stranger to the Super Bowl, having performed at halftime in 2013  has partnered with exercise physiologist Marco Borges for a lighter pizza. The thin crust is made from brown rice and tapioca flour, and it's topped with tomatoes, avocado, and basil. You can add your own mozzarella cheese, but Beyonce's vegan version is made with raw cashews, lemon juice, and apple cider vinegar. The recipe comes to 527 calories if you split it into two servings. Although there are 24 grams of fat, only 4 of those fat grams come from saturated fat. You'll also find almost 9 grams of fiber in this Beyonce-approved pizza (and here's a recipe for a heart-healthy pizza).

Matthew McConaughey and Chrissy Teigen indulge on Super Bowl Sunday

Matthew McConaughey loves his football food. You may have seen his collaboration with Uber Eats, maintaining his argument that the purpose of football was to sell food. This famous Texan told Food & Wine about his affinity for chicken fingers from the fast food chain Raising Cane's. No forks are necessary with chicken fingers, and that's how McConaughey likes it. "It's the Super Bowl," he said. "You want it to go straight from hand to mouth...It doesn't need anything else, you know." The 3 Finger Combo from Raising Cane's might have your mouth watering, but it comes in at 1,050 calories and 59 grams of fat (9 grams saturated fat). This might not be the best choice if you're trying to watch your blood pressure. This chicken tenders meal also packs 1,730 milligrams of sodium. The Cane's Sauce adds another 590 milligrams of sodium.

Chrissy Teigen knows how to live it up on Super Bowl Sunday too. She features a Pizza Dip on her Cravings website that's basically a pepperoni pizza in a skillet. By making this dish at home, you at least can control the ingredients. However, even if you split the dip among eight people, you're still coming in at 346 calories and almost 11 grams of saturated fat — and that's without the baguette to pull out the dip. The dip also has almost 1,000 milligrams of sodium without providing many vitamins or minerals.
