What Melania Trump Drinks In A Day
Although Melania Trump manages to keep a low profile in regards to her personal life, one thing about her is very obvious: she takes care of herself. Unlike her husband Donald, who manages to exist on a diet of fast food and basically a vat of Diet Coke a day, Melania prefers to take the healthy route. As a former model and someone who can't escape the limelight, she knows that looking your best at all times is a power move on her part, especially in such a turbulent political environment.
While it's clear that Melania probably drinks the recommended 11.5 cups of water a day (per the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine), it turns out that's not the only thing she's drinking. She also has a go-to smoothie that's an important part of her daily beverage intake. "The smoothie is a really great way to get in those key foods," registered dietitian Miranda Hammer told Time. "You have the foundation for a healthy breakfast or snack... Good sources of fat in smoothies are salt and sugar-free nut butter, chia, flax, sesame, or hemp seeds, flax oil, coconut meat, coconut yogurt, or full-fat organic yogurt."
If you're thinking there might be something to gain by drinking what Melania drinks in a day, then opting for a fruit and vegetable smoothie is the way to go. However, you definitely want a blender with a strong blade, based on what she is packing into each of her morning smoothies.
What's in Melania Trump's smoothie
In 2012, Melania Trump sat down with Refinery 29 to talk about her jewelry line. When asked about her daily eating habits, she said, "Well, in the morning, every morning, I have a smoothie with a few ingredients and a lot of vitamins in it — it's very healthy." Although she didn't get into specifics, there seemed to be a demand for details, because in February 2013, she posted the recipe on Facebook. "Got many requests from you for [the] recipe of my every day delicious [and] healthy breakfast," she wrote. "Mix all fresh and organic: spinach, celery, carrots, blueberries, apple, orange juice, lemon juice, fat-free yogurt, olive oil, flax seeds, omega-3, vitamin D."
While everything in her smoothie is great for you, there are a few standouts. For example, spinach is always on top of "healthiest vegetable" lists because it's low in calories and high in antioxidants, calcium, and vitamins K, A, and C. Carrots, too, are amongst the healthiest vegetables you can eat, and a 2018 study in Medicine found that eating carrots every day could lower one's risk of breast cancer.
When it comes to berries, she picked the healthiest of them all. Blueberries are high in antioxidants, as well as vitamins C and K, while flax seeds are a fantastic source of omega-3 fatty acids and dietary fiber, and also contain properties that can help lower cholesterol. Combined with all the other ingredients, you're looking at one heck of a healthy smoothie. How it tastes, however, is another story.
Melania also enjoys fruit juice
In her 2012 interview with Refinery 29, Melania Trump mentioned that she had juice that morning along with oatmeal instead of her usual smoothie. Although she didn't specify what kind of juice, considering she puts apple juice in her smoothie every morning and favors apples and peaches (per Inside Edition), it might be safe to assume that apple juice is at the top of her list. Apple juice is a great source of antioxidants, especially if the pulp hasn't been removed, per Healthline. It also contains heart health properties thanks to its potassium levels.
While fruit and vegetable juices are certainly a delicious way to keep your diet balanced, ultimately, eating whole fruit is best. According to the Mayo Clinic, although juices are chock-full of vitamins and nutrients, fiber is lost during the juicing process. There's a very good chance that Trump knows this, and that's why she makes sure to eat seven pieces of fruit every day, per the Inside Edition report. Between the smoothies and her fruit intake, perhaps Donald could learn a little something from his wife's daily diet.
